Germany offers good opportunities for family operations, but there are also great prospects for large-scale farming operations. The social climate in western Germany is comparable to other modern European countries, which facilitates quick civic integration. In the eastern part of Germany, moreover, the social climate is becoming similar to that in the western part. The eastern part offers the best opportunities for the purchase of large-scale farming operations, because the structures created in communist times are still there. This presents economies of scale and creates a strong position on the European market as well as on the future global market. Other sectors hold a strong position as well: arable farming in particular is a flourishing and prosperous sector. Intensive farming is stimulated because this sector creates jobs.
