Country information
Sweden is a large country with much diversity. There is a lot of space for agriculture, but there is also wonderful nature everywhere. The north has a continental climate, with many hours of sunshine in summer and cold winters with regular, large amounts of snow. The central and northern part of Sweden is a forested area. In southern Sweden, with a predominantly maritime climate, there is a large undulating agricultural region with mainly arable lands. Dairy farms can be found throughout Sweden. Driving through the woodlands, you are likely to find well-cultivated lands suddenly appearing in sight. In particular, young entrepreneurs and start-ups have very good opportunities if they want to start a farm in Sweden. Anybody with 25% own capital can buy a farm. Sweden’s national milk quota is usually not filled, which leads to low quota prices.
